Allows you to tweak a variety of normally inaccessible game settings to disable certain visual effects, modify key binds and much more.
Not compatible with Dead Island: Riptide Definitive Edition.[2]

  2. Make a new folder called data and a folder inside that one called skills
  3. Go to DI in the installation folder.
  4. Open Data0.pak with 7-Zip or similar.
  5. Go into the skills folder.
  6. Copy default_levels.xml to %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Riptide\data\skills\
  7. Edit default_levels.xml
  8. Change the FOV to what you want and save your changes.

Some dialogue cannot be heard.[6]

Audio recording and many conversations do not have sound when playing in Spanish.

Audio disappears when leaving a vehicle and a crackling sounds appears when entering a vehicle.

Crash to desktop [edit]

Reports of crashing to desktop on startup[7]

To prevent game from crashing to desktop, go to Options -> Online and select Single Player as Game Type.

If you're using Proton to play on Linux, try changing the version from 5.0-9 to 4.11-13. "Properties" -> "General" -> "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool" -> "Proton 4.11-13"

Cannot connect to multiplayer games [edit]

Error message "Connection to game session is unavailable at this moment." is a catch-all for any form of failed connection.
Multiplayer workaround using VPN[8]
You can only join other people who have tunngle installed and are connected to the same Tunngle Network.

Run the game at screen refresh rate [edit]

Refresh rate is limited to 60 Hz.

  1. Go to %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Riptide\out\Settings\ or <path-to-game>\DI\Out\Settings\.
  2. Open Video.scr.
  3. Set MaxRefresh(60) to above 60, e.g. MaxRefresh(120) and save.
